Level 2 session coach award
About the course:
The level 2 course is interactive and involves discussion, presentations
and most importantly practical coaching experiences throughout all three
disciplines.
The course is designed to build on the level 1 course, by broadening the
remit as a coach and covers intermediate swimming, cycling and running
techniques and equipment.
the level 2 coaching role has been defined as:
"Prepare for, deliver and review coaching sessions"
Course duration and cost
4 days over 2 weekends, is usually separated by 2 weeks (usually run alongside
a level 1 course). Each day usually lasts from 9am - 5pm, however this
can be dependant on facility hire.

Methods of assessment
The course is a competence based and assessment comprises of informal
during each module and in the swim bike and run practicals. A formal assessment
will be conducted on day 4, where each coach will be required to deliver
a 10 minute coaching session, with 5 minutes of questions after. Assuming
the coach displays a level of competence in line with the assessment criteria,
they will be able to continue where coaches will work towards their Practical
Coaching Experience and complete the Theory Paper, which relates to the
course resources. For this, they will be required to plan deliver and
evaluate 12 group sessions (4 sessions per discipline). This should be
submitted to the Coach Education department for assessment. On successful
completion, certificates will be deployed.
Coaches have 12 months to complete the award from the start of the course.
Minimum age - 18 years of age
Pre-requisites - Level 1 assistant coach or Applied prior learning (APL)
